Guidelines for rehabilitation practice and centre design
In this section suggestions and guidelines for designing and running a tiger rehabilitation centre are given. Due to the widely varying circumstances in which tiger rehabilitation facilities will be needed, it is not appropriate to provide rigid design specifications or management protocols. Differences in resources, legal structures, land type, climate, available building materials etc, will all influence facility design – and what works in one range state may not in others. Nevertheless, whatever local solutions are found it is essential that the key principles of tiger rehabilitation are taken into account at all stages.
Badly designed, inadequately resourced or poorly managed tiger rehabilitation facilities are unlikely to be either successful or safe.
