Treatment of common conditions and simple injuries

Effective treatment of simple injuries and common medical problems can be achieved in the field with limited equipment and basic medicines without having to bring a tiger into a captive facility. More complex or severe problems are better treated in rehabilitation facilities where more suitable conditions can be provided, a wider range of diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities are available, and longer periods for treatment & recovery possible. It is not the intention to give prescriptive advice on exactly which problems can be resolved in the field and which require short periods in captive rehabilitation as each case will be different. However, some guidance is given below on a range of medical problems, with the emphasis on treatment in the field where possible. Of course, most injured or sick will require anaesthesia for examination and treatment.
